An anime and manga series, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. The story follows the protagonist, Jojo, as he sets out to find his long-lost mother.
This is a list of the top 30 Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Characters ranked. The characters are in order from most popular to least popular.
Because of the unexpected success of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime and manga series, many fans are eager to discover more about the characters. Who can forget the series’ unique artwork, as well as how intelligent and powerful certain characters are, regardless of whether they are enemies or not? Even I was blown away by the series’ storyline, which is why I decided to make a list of my favorite characters.
In this post, I’ll provide my own list of the series’ top 30 characters. There are many noteworthy characters in the anime and manga, but I only selected 30 to give you the best of the bunch. However, some fans may need to take this with a grain of salt, since we all have different perspectives on the characters we like in the series.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Jojo Lands has just been revealed as of this writing. However, since the new characters’ information have yet to be disclosed, I will not put them there. There are also some spoilers in the series – you have been warned! So, without further ado, here are Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’s top 30 characters:
Jonathan Joestar (number 30) (Phantom Blood)
The primary character in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood is Jonathan Joestar. He is the series’s first Jojo. Jonathan, the son of George Joestar I, is an honest, kind, and upbeat guy whose life is turned upside down when he meets his adoptive elder brother, Dio Brando. Jonathan was killed in a carriage accident while he was a baby, and his mother, Mary Joestar, died.
That same accident brought Dio Brando into his life in an indirect way since his father, George Joestar I, mistakenly believed Dio’s thieving father spared his life and promised to return the debt. He met his future wife Erina Pendleton after seeing her being harassed by other children and rushing to her aid despite his inability to fight. However, Jojo’s life spiraled into solitude and misery following Dio’s arrival.
He lost everything at the age of 20 when Dio obtained the stone mask that transforms him into a vampire, murdered his father, and set fire to their home. He defeated Dio and his vampiric followers with the aid of Erina, his Ripple teacher Will A. Zeppeli, and his buddy Robert E.O. Speedwagon.
Though he would soon die during the couple’s journey to America at the conclusion of Phantom Blood, when Dio’s last pupil Wang Chan delivered Dio’s severed head to the ship. Only Erina survived the fire while carrying their unborn child and the infant she saved.
Muhammad Avdol, 29. (Stardust Crusaders)
Along the trip, Joseph Joestar’s Egyptian buddy joins the party on their quest to destroy Dio, offering information and advice regarding enemy Stand Users and local cultures. He wields the Red of the Stand Magician. Avdol is a formidable warrior who manages to survive their journey from Japan to Egypt.
When he sacrifices himself to rescue Polnareff and Iggy from Vanilla Ice, he meets an unfortunate end. Even Polnareff and Iggy were taken aback by his sudden demise. Following Ice’s loss, Avdol and Iggy, who both perished as a result of Ice’s injuries, were seen as spirits ascending towards paradise.
Koichi Hirose (no. 28) (Diamond is Unbreakable)
Koichi is a shy first-year high school student who meets Josuke Higashikata and becomes immersed in the world of Stand users. Though he is tiny in size and does not stand out much, he has a big heart, since he was ready to assist his buddies in their battle against an unknown killer in Morioh. He wields the Stand Echoes, which come in three different forms known as ACTs. He was last seen in the series at the opening of Vento Aureo, when Giorno Giovanna stole his bag.
Okuyasu Nijimura (27), Okuyasu Nijimura (28), Okuyas (Diamond is Unbreakable)
Okuyasu was first presented as an enemy Stand user, but he would later assist Josuke and Koichi in putting an end to the unsolved killings in Morioh. He would assist his brother in striking individuals with the arrow to bestow Stands if their bodies could take it, since they are looking for someone who can acquire a Stand that would allow them to repair their father.
He’d team up with Josuke to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of the Stand user wielding Red Hot Chili Peppers. He is the wielder of The Hand, a Stand.
Rohan Kishibe (no. 26) (Diamond is Unbreakable)
A mangaka who wields the Stand Heaven’s Door and uses it to convert humans into books, which he then reads for inspiration. Despite being presented as an adversary, he would eventually assist Josuke in the hunt for the murderer in Morioh.
Later spinoffs to the original Jojo tale, such as Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, Rohan at the Louvre, and Rohan Kishibe Go to Gucci, featured him as the protagonist.
Narancia Ghirga (#25) (Vento Aureo)
He is a member of Team Bucciarati, as well as Passione. Narancia follows Giorno and Bucciarati on their quest to safeguard Trish Una, whom they have a tragic history with. The Torture Dance has made him famous.
He would make it to the battle against Diavolo, but he would perish during the Chariot Requiem’s ability to swap the bodies of everyone around the coliseum. Because of the radar skills of his Stand “Aerosmith,” he was murdered amid the chaos.
Guido Mista (24), Guido Mista (24), Guido Mista (Vento Aureo)
Mista is a member of Passione’s and, by extension, Bucciarati’s squad, and she is assigned to accompany Giorno and Bucciarati on their mission to protect Trish Una. He is a gunman and a Stands User who uses his Sex Pistols to take out his opponents. Mista’s Stand Sex Pistols let him to deflect shots fired by his pistol. In the fight against Diavolo, he would be joined by Trish, Polnareff, and Giorno.
Mista is shown working for Giorno, the new Boss of Passione, who wants to assist others the same way the mystery gang member helped him when he was a kid. He believes that the greatest way to realize his goal is to become the boss of Passione and halt the proliferation of narcotics. This concept was shared by Mista, Bucciarati, and the rest of the squad, and it became the driving factor behind their overthrow of the original Boss of Passione.
Lisa Lisa is number 23. (Battle Tendency)
Elizabeth Joestar is the mother of Joseph Joestar and the wife of George Joestar II. She serves as a tutor to both Joseph and Caesar Zeppeli as a strong Ripple master. She would murder her husband’s killer, a major squad commander in the Royal Air Force, after being adopted by Straizo and taught how to utilize Ripple. She faked her death with the assistance of the Speedwagon foundation to escape retribution after being spotted by another cop during the murder. She ended up in Venice.
She survived the battle with the Pillar Men, but she believes she lost her son in the battle with Kars. She would disclose that she was Joseph’s mother at his “funeral,” but she was taken aback when Joseph appeared alive and well after the fight with Kars. She is 50 years old during Battle Tendency, despite her youthful appearance, and would remarry a Hollywood screenwriter in 1948, when she is 60.
Josuke Higashikata (Josuke Higashikata) (Josuke Higas (Jojolion)
Before being found by Yasuho Hirose near the Wall Eyes in Morioh Town, Josuke was a young man suffering from retrograde amnesia and had no memories. He devotes himself to reuniting with his previous self and people who were formerly connected with him. Josefumi Kujo was Josuke’s previous persona before merging with Yoshikage Kira to become his present self.
Josuke is a Stand User who still goes by the name Soft & Wet. Josuke has a diastema between his upper incisors and a star-shaped birthmark on his left shoulder, much like the other Jojos in the series. He possesses two sets of eyes, four testicles, and two tongues, all of which are different in texture and color and are united as one.
Vanilla Ice (number 21) (Stardust Crusaders)
Vanilla Ice is DIO’s last Vampire and one of the Joestar Group’s penultimate Stand Users when they infiltrate DIO’s Mansion. He is dispatched to take out the squad consisting of Avdol, Polnareff, and Iggy when the group is split up. Vanilla Ice is a Stand User who uses Cream, a void-based Stand ability, to fight.
Despite the fact that he appears towards the end of the series, he made a lasting impact on viewers since he murdered Avdol in a single instant, killed Iggy, and severely injured Polnareff.
20. A Pet Store (Stardust Crusaders)
The protector of DIO’s Mansion and a Stand user wielding the ice Stand, Horus, this ferocious falcon is a member of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods. Pet Shop assaults Iggy when he accidentally wanders into DIO’s Mansion. This falcon is so violent that when he first appeared, he ate two dogs and was on the verge of killing a child until Iggy intervened.
He is as vicious as he is relentless, as shown by the fact that he fights Iggy while underwater. When Iggy chews his beak and smashes it while attempting to shoot ice from close range, he dies.
Iggy (age 19) (Stardust Crusaders)
Iggy is a Boston Terrier from New York’s streets. He reluctantly joins the protagonists on their last mission to defeat DIO in Cairo, Egypt. Iggy uses The Fool and is a Stand user. He has a terrible personality and is antisocial. He likes to chew on human hair and fart in people’s faces. Coffee-flavored chewing gum is his favorite pleasure.
During the battle with Pet Shop and N’Doul, he demonstrates very high intellect for a dog. His quest would finish in Dio’s home, where Vanilla Ice and his Stand Cream would murder both him and Avdol. Iggy’s and Avdol’s souls are seen transcending towards paradise after Ice’s defeat.
18. Nero Risotto (Vento Aureo)
Risotto Nero is the commander of La Squadra Esecuzioni, and he sends his men to fight Team Bucciarati in order to abduct the Boss’ daughter, Trish Una, as part of their plot to figure out who her father is. Risotto chases Team Bucciarati to the island of Sardinia after all of his teammates die in the course of their mission.
However, he is involved in a fight with Vinegar Doppio on a beach on the Costa Smeralda. Risotto is a Stand User who manipulates the metals in his environment with the hazardous magnetic powers of Metallica, which are in in his blood. He assaults Doppio after discovering he is a Stand user due to his response to the sound of Aerosmith, only to be murdered by Narancia’s Aerosmith after wielding King Crimson.
Jolyne Cujoh is seventeen years old (Stone Ocean)
Jotaro Kujo’s daughter Jolyne is the only female “Jojo” to date. Initially a regular girl, Jolyne’s string-based Stand, Stone Free, rapidly awakens during her stay in prison. She was transported to Green Dolphin Street Prison as a result of what seems to be an accident, with no knowledge of the events that would follow. Jotaro bestows to her an amulet with fragments of the Stand fashioned into an arrow.
During the events of Stone Ocean, readers will discover that the “accident” was staged by Enrico Pucci, the Prisons’ own priest. Following the awakening of her Stand, she and her prison companions struggle to live in what they refer to as a “Ocean of Stone.”
Polnareff, Jean Pierre (Stardust Crusaders)
Polnareff, a Frenchman, joins Jotaro and Joseph on a journey to revenge his sister, who was killed by a guy with two right hands. He was presented as an enemy Stand user, along with Kakyoin, since they were both under the power of Dio’s vampiric flesh buds.
Despite the fact that most of his experiences were humorous, he eventually joins the gang after the first fight. Silver Chariot is one of the quickest Stands in Stardust Crusaders, and he wields a rapier. He seeks retribution for the murders of his pals Avdol and Iggy by Vanilla Ice. After the battle, he weeps as he watches both of their souls go to paradise. He also survives the battle with Dio and will later assist Jotaro and the Speedwagon foundation.
Before Vento Aureo, he traveled to Italy in search of the Stand who was making arrows, and he began his inquiry, attracting the notice of Diavolo. He tried to assassinate Diavolo but failed and was critically injured as a result. Because of his understanding of the adversary and the effects of the arrow on a Stand, he would be crucial in Giorno’s battle against Diavolo. His spirit is still in Coco Jumbo the turtle at the conclusion of Vento Aureo since his original body perished and is now with Giorno and Passione.
Noriaki Kakyoin, No. 15 (Stardust Crusaders)
Kakyoin is a Japanese student assigned to murder Jotaro Kujo after being indoctrinated by DIO on a previous trip to Egypt. He chooses to accompany Jotaro on his journey to Egypt to rescue Jotaro’s mother, Holy Kujo, and achieve atonement after being liberated from DIO’s control. With the ability Emerald Splash, he wields the long-ranged Stand Hierophant Green.
In his battles, he is revealed to be very intelligent. Due to his fast thinking during the battle with Dio, he made an impact on fans. He was eventually put to death by Dio and his Stand “The World.” Before dying, he would demonstrate to Joseph The World’s power to halt time by splashing his emerald one final time on the massive clock.
Bruno Bucciarati (14), (Vento Aureo)
He is a gangster and the commander of his group inside Passione, a strong Neapolitan gang. Bucciarati is the first to offer significant assistance to Giorno in his ascent in Passione’s ranks, having been sent out to hunt down whomever assaulted Leaky-Eye Luca and debuting as Giorno Giovanna’s opponent. Bucciarati is a Stand User who fights with Sticky Fingers.
Because of their common conviction in ending the drug trade in Italy, he ends up enlisting Giorno to his organization. He was murdered by Diavolo during Trish Una’s alleged “return,” but he survived the series as an undead thanks to Giorno’s Stand Golden Experience. During the battle with Diavolo in the Coliseum, he would eventually pass on to the afterlife and play a key role in restoring everyone to their bodies and delivering the arrow to Giorno.
Josuke Higashikata (Josuke Higashikata) (Josuke (Diamond is Unbreakable)
Diamond is Unbreakable’s main character is Josuke. He is a first-year high school student in the town of Morioh. Soon after, he encounters Jotaro Kujo, who reveals that he is Joseph Joestar’s illegitimate son. Josuke takes it upon himself to defend his beloved village from evil Stand users when his grandpa passes away.
Crazy Diamond, a strong Stand with the ability to heal virtually anything, is wielded by Josuke. His tale leads to him making friends, meeting his father, and saving the village from the assassin Yoshikage Kira. He was assisted by a high school student with a pompadour hairdo after an incident when he was young, and he would wear one himself as he grew older. He despises it when others criticize his hairdo.
Yoshikage Kira (age 12) (Diamond is Unbreakable)
Diamond is Unbreakable’s primary adversary is Yoshikage Kira. Yoshikage Kira is an aberrant and paraphilic serial murderer who has gone unnoticed in Morioh for years and has had an unbroken existence until the ghost of his first victim, Reimi Sugimoto, asks the Joestar Group to search for him and he draws unwelcome attention by murdering Shigekiyo Yangu.
Kira is a Stand User who creates terrible explosives with the formidable Killer Queen. He is an extreme hand fetishist who will retain a victim’s hand that he finds attractive and will only dispose of it if it begins to decay, at which point he will seek for another victim.
Diavolo is number eleven (Vento Aureo)
The primary adversary of Vento Aureo is Diavolo. He is the father of Trish Una and the boss of Passione. Team Bucciarati is tasked with bringing her to him while keeping her safe from the disloyal Squadra Esecuzioni. Team Bucciarati is ultimately revealed to have been entrusted with bringing Trish to him so that he may kill his daughter in order to maintain his secret.
Diavolo is a Stand User who uses King Crimson in combat and is secretly Vinegar Doppio’s alternative ego. Diavolo’s Stand is King Crimson, an incredibly strong Stand with incredible physical strength and the ability to rewind time up to ten seconds and foresee everything that occurs in the next ten seconds.
Although it has its limits, King Crimson makes him almost unstoppable in battle since he can either predict and counter the enemy’s actions or erase the period in which they occur. After his Stand awakens a new power called Gold Experience Requiem, he is murdered by Giorno (or more accurately, he is trapped in an endless cycle of death).
Zeppelin Zeppelin Zeppelin Zeppelin Zeppel (Battle Tendency)
Caesar is an Italian Ripple user and Lisa Lisa’s follower. He is Will Anthonio Zeppeli’s grandson, and he fights the Pillar Men with his friends and instructors to respect his Zeppeli lineage. Caesar originally despised Joseph Joestar, believing him to be uncivilized, but they earned each other’s respect during the trip for their determination in acquiring the ripple ability from Lisa Lisa in order to fight the Pillar Men.
Caesar Zeppeli was a hot-blooded yet determined warrior devoted to the Pillar Men’s defeat. His hot-bloodedness got him murdered in the end. During the chase of Kars, he got ahead of the others and was attacked by Wamuu. Though he came close to winning, he made a minor error during the battle and was killed by the Holy Sandstorm.
He gets to retrieve Wamuu’s lip piercing, which held the antidote for Joseph’s surviving Wedding ring, before bleeding out. Before being crushed by a cross-shaped boulder, he utilized his ripple ability to create a bubble out of his blood that contained the Lip piercing as well as his headband for Joseph to remove.
Joseph Joestar (nine) (Battle Tendency)
Joseph Joestar is the primary character of Battle Tendency, a tale about the origins of the stone mask that destroyed the Joestar family through Dio in Phantom Blood. Although he looks like his grandpa Jonathan Joestar, he has a very different mentality. While Jonathan is more gentlemanly and confronts challenges head-on, Joseph plays the fool to deceive his adversaries and catch them off guard.
He also has a proclivity for foreseeing what his opponent would say to him during a battle. I can only explain that when Kars became the ultimate creature, Joseph only triumphed because of a series of fortunate circumstances that resulted in Kars being blasted into space and being frozen but aware for the rest of his life. He was renowned for fighting without overthinking things and acting on the spur of the moment. In the battle with Kars, he would also lose his arm. He would subsequently disrupt his funeral and shock everyone by marrying Lisa’s maid, Suzie Q.
He was instrumental in hunting down Dio in Stardust Crusaders in order to stop him and rescue his daughter Holy Kujo from her Stand. Despite his advanced age, he obtains the Hermit Purple Stand. Even though everyone was afraid he would die, he is still regarded as a prankster since he pranked the Speedwagon workers and Jotaro by becoming a vampire at the conclusion of Stardust Crusader.
Joseph is considerably older in Diamond is Unbreakable, and he has a son with a college student called Tomoko Higashikata when he is 62. Though he wouldn’t find out about the kid until Josuke was sixteen. He’d go to Morioh to meet Josuke and assist him. Finally, he adopts a baby discovered on the side of the road and names him Achtung Baby, a Stand user with the power to become invisible.
Kars (nine) (Battle Tendency)
Kars is the Pillar Men’s commander and the creator of the Stone Mask. His aim is to develop further so that he may become resistant to the sun’s rays, thus he goes in search of the Red Stone of Aja to strengthen his Masks, fighting the Ripple users for it. Out of all the Pillar Men, he is rated first. Kars is revealed to have no honor, even cheating on the battle against Lisa Lisa despite having the benefit of being a Pillar Man, unlike Wamuu who fought and respected warriors who fought him. At the conclusion of Battle Tendency, he is beaten by Joseph Joestar, leaving him space-conscious but frozen.
Dio Brando is number seven (Stardust Crusaders)
Since Phantom Blood through Stardust Crusaders, Dio, the series’ most well-known adversary, has tormented the Joestar lineage. Enrico Pucci was adamant on achieving Dio’s idea of paradise, even after he died. He plagued Jonathan Joestar’s life from the time he was adopted by the Joestar family, murdering his dog, bullying him, and even stealing Erina’s first kiss (the girl whom Jonathan likes).
Due to the stone mask, he would also become a vampire, murdering George Joestar and setting fire to their house. He was successful in murdering Jonathan and stealing his corpse at the conclusion of Phantom Blood, but he would be buried for years beneath the sea until…
A gang of fisherman inadvertently freed him from his watery tomb in Stardust Crusaders. Following his release, he became pregnant with a Japanese lady (Giorno), tracked down Enya the Hag (who gave him the Stand with the arrow), and met Enrico Pucci. On Egypt, he is vanquished by Jotaro, and his remnants in the Sahara desert are destroyed by the rising sun. His Stand is The World, which has the ability to freeze time for 9 seconds.
6. Valentine’s Day jokes (Steel Ball Run)
Steel Ball Run’s main adversary is him. The 23rd President of the United States, and the real genius behind the Steel Ball Run event, is Funny Valentine. From behind the curtains, he observes the competition and wants to collect the Saint’s Corpse in order to exploit the sacred relic to promote the interests of the United States of America. Valentine is a Stand User who travels between parallel worlds using his Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and its dimensional powers.
5. Gyro Zeppeli (Gyro Zeppelin) (Steel Ball Run)
Gyro hails from the Kingdom of Naples and is a Spin master. He enters the Steel Ball Run race in the hopes of winning amnesty for a kid whose execution he has been assigned. After mastering the Spin, he gains access to Ball Breaker. Before the race, he becomes friends with Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic. He’d subsequently teach Johnny how to spin, allowing him to use his Stand Tusk.
Ball Breaker, his stand, was strong enough to damage Funny Valentine but not enough to kill him, since he died from his injuries suffered during the battle. Gyro delivers his last instruction to Johnny before dying, enabling Tusk to achieve ACT 4, letting him to defeat Valentine. His soul then emerges and bids his buddy goodbye before ascending to paradise.
4. Johnny Joestar is a well-known actor (Steel Ball Run)
Johnny, a former horse-racing prodigy who has become paraplegic, enters the SBR race to discover the mystery behind Gyro Zeppeli’s Steel Balls, which are the only thing that can cure his legs. When Johnny obtains Tusk during the race, he becomes a Spin User as well as a Stand User.
Despite not finishing the race, he prevented Funny Valentine from exploiting the Saint’s Corpse, a sacred relic, to promote the interests of the United States of America. He’d meet up with his wife on a ship bound for Naples, where he’d be honoring his buddy by giving his body to his family.
Jotaro Kujo is number three on the list (Stardust Crusaders)
First and foremost, please accept my apologies for not putting Jotaro at the top of the list. However, the top two players have overpowering Stands that are much more powerful and cooler than Jotaro’s. Since his introduction, Jotaro Kujo, the primary protagonist of Stardust Crusaders, has been the most popular character. Jotaro’s adventure began when he traveled to Egypt with his grandpa in order to rescue his mother, Holy Kujo.
Demonstrated to be a delinquent and antisocial.
He gets the Platinum Stand Star, which is a close-range Stand that is super-strong, quick, and accurate. During his trip, he became fonder of his companions and even mourned those who perished. This is more apparent in Diamond is Unbreakable, as he still holds and glances at his group’s picture. At the conclusion of Stardust Crusaders, he is successful in killing DIO. Jotaro would go on to obtain a Ph.D. in Marine Biology, marry an Italian-American lady, and have a daughter called Jolyne after that.
In Diamond is Unbreakable, he plays a Marine Biologist searching for an uncle he never knew he had (Josuke). He’d play a key role in bringing down Yoshikage Kira, Morioh’s serial murderer. He was also the one who sent Koichi to Vento Aureo in pursuit of Haruno Shiobana (later changed his name to Giorno Giovanna).
He was last seen at Stone Ocean, where Enrico Pucci had imprisoned his daughter in order to draw him out. Pucci’s Stand ability allowed him to retrieve his memory disc, which held Dio’s Journal, and use it to create his own version of paradise. Enrico’s evolved Stand, Made in Heaven, destroyed him and most of Jolyne’s friends. He and DIO Brando are the JoJo franchise’s most well-known characters.
Enrico Pucci is number two on the list (Stone Ocean)
DIO’s devoted disciple and buddy, he carries out DIO’s long-planned strategy to “obtain paradise.” Pucci is a Stand User who uses his Stand, Whitesnake, to control the mind and spirit. He is Stone Ocean’s primary adversary and the mastermind behind Jolyne’s Imprisonment.
Except for Emporio, he murdered most of the characters as his Stand evolved into Made in Heaven. Emporio poisons him with oxygen and kills him. His Heavenly Stand is so strong that it allows him to speed up time and even reset the cosmos.
Giorno Giovanna Giorno Giovanna Giorno Giovanna Gi (Vento Aureo)
Giorno is DIO’s illegitimate son, created using the stolen corpse of Jonathan Joestar. Haruno Shiobana is his given name. He talks about his desire to join the strong gang Passione and his ambition to become a “Gang-Star.” In combat, Giorno is a natural-born Stand User who wields the life-giving Gold Experience. In Passione, he joins Bucciarati’s squad to combat the drug trade.
The Gold Experience Requiem is his Stand. With its overwhelming capacity to return to “zero” like nothing, it is by far the strongest Stand in the series. The Stand is also revealed to have its own awareness and to function as a passive Stand, meaning that it may use its powers without Giorno’s knowledge. As a result, he is almost indestructible and immune to all assaults since his Stand resets everything to zero. He is now the head of Passione at the conclusion of the series, and he is working to put an end to the drug trafficking of the organization he joined.
